A while back, I posted about my favorite “go-to breakfasts” and “go-to dinners.” Today I wanted to follow up by sharing my favorite, no-guilt dessert, Bananas “Fauxster”. Okay, that is the lamest play on words ever, but this dessert is awesome, easy, and great for just one or easily scaled to make an impressive dessert for company:
Bananas Fauxster
- Medium ripe or even a bit underripe bananas
- Honey or maple syrup
- Cinnamon and/or nutmeg
- Chocolate syrup
- Strawberries (optional but highly recommended!)
- Whipped cream, ice cream, or my new favorite, Ben & Jerry’s Frozen GREEK Yogurt
Slice bananas lengthwise and arrange flat side up on a cookie sheet. Drizzle with a tiny amount of honey or maple syrup (cooked bananas are already incredibly sweet, but the honey or maple makes the flavor more complex). Sprinkle with cinnamon or nutmeg and pop into 350 degree oven for 6-8 minutes. Remove from oven, drizzle with small amount of chocolate sauce, and top with sliced strawberries and about 3 tablespoons of whipped cream, ice cream, or frozen Greek yogurt. Yum!
My other favorite, and the one you can more commonly find me having after dinner most nights, is simply a couple of graham crackers, dipped in vanilla-flavored milk. There is something about a dash of vanilla in your milk that makes it just a bit more satisfying, and the perfect complement to the lowly graham cracker:
Even when you are carefully watching what you are eating, it is important to purposefully work in a few indulgences, on a daily or nearly daily basis. These have been mine for the past few months, and I’ve still lost about 18 lbs. The key, of course, is portion control!

looks good. I usually do banana, marshmellows and chocolate in the microwave. Adding vanilla to milk sounds good.

How tasty! Have you tried Butter Extract? Here’s a link to a photo of the kind I like, which I get at Walmart. http://instagram.com/p/X89S1QARcj/
It’s wonderful in hot chocolate, Greek yogurt, and, I imagine, milk with graham crackers.
